Labor Pledges Funding Telemedicine

A sum of $400 million has been pledged by Julia Gillard, to be invested in the reformation of Medicare payments, and build a facility to offer medical services via the Internet.

Labor is upbeat that GPs, nurses and experts will start offering consultations over the Internet from the subsequent month of July and has also allotted $250 m in new Medicare discounts and bonuses.

Two Fire Ant Influxes Found in Queensland

Tim Mulherin, Queensland Primary Industries Minister informed that two new fire ant influxes have been located outside the containment zone in the southeastern part of the state.

The ants have been found at Ormeau on the Gold Coast and north Brisbane’s Clontarf.

The Parliament was informed by Mr. Mulherin that it was not known whether the fire ants multiply their number by themselves or it happens due to human help.

He said that it was not lawful to move high-risk material like soil and landscaping tool from a fire ant bordered region without inspecting the area.

Nurse Stuck in Parking for Five Hours

After using the private parking space of an elderly patient, a nurse, who was in full uniform, was clamped for five hours on Monday.

It has been confirmed by the Spokesman for the North East Essex Primary Care Trust that when Hannah Bannock was clamped in Clacton, Essex, she had an NHS permit on display.

Director of the RAC Foundation, Professor Stephen Glaister said that this case is the perfect example, which shows that why it has become necessary to amend the laws and how worse the situation has become.

People Asked to Come up with New Ideas of Reducing Waste

As it has become essential to cut the amount of trash Oxfordshire produces, thus, people are now being asked to come up with the innovative ideas on how to tackle the problem.

A conference was held by the Oxfordshire Waste Partnership (OWP) at oxfordshirewaste. gov. uk to discover new ways of cutting waste within next 10 years.

OWP Chairman and County Cabinet Member Ian Hudspeth said, “We need to reduce the amount of rubbish that needs to be collected, transported and processed – not only for the obvious environmental benefits but to reduce the burden on council tax”.

Sandwell Council Wardens Haunting Residents

An appearance of yet another instance showing the heavy handedness of Sandwell Council over littering has come up. It was just last year when Sandwell is said to have handed out more than 2,200 penalty fines of £75. The neighborhood Dudley has, reportedly penalized just 336 subjects.

The offense was something as minor as allowing tissues to fall from pockets. Sheila Martin, 70 was handed over £75 fixed penalty for littering while she was just standing and smoking at the bus stop. When she refused to pay the fine, she was given a £2,500 penalty slip by the Council warden.

Infiniti announced that it is welcoming a new member to its family, the G25 Sedan, which is planned to hit the markets in September 2010. According to Ben Poore, Infiniti Vice President, this 2011 G model of Infiniti, the premium product line of the Japanese Automaker Nissan, would broaden “the appeal of the G Line with a model designed to provide an additional choice for buyers looking for a true luxury sedan, but who might not need the higher levels of performance provided by our larger engine-equipped G37 models”.

Continuing with value addition, Google once again added another feather to its cap -- Jambool, the app developer.

According to Dow Jones, Google had already acquired AdMob Inc., Aardvark, Invite Media Inc., reMail, Ruba and Simplify Media Inc. The Company has already paid $200 million for acquiring social games maker Slide Inc.

Last year Google purchased On2 Technologies and has also agreed to buy ITA Software Inc. and Global IP Solutions Holding AB in the current year.

U.K. Study-Social Media Scoring over Newspaper Websites

Survey by Morpace Shows Positive Signs for the Sale of Verizone iPhone 4

As per a recent survey conducted on 1,000 consumers, it was found that 51% of the consumers are inclined towards purchasing the expected Verizon iPhone 4, while 29% showed their interest to switch over to Verizon iPhone 4. The figures pose threat to the AT&T and Android.

The report was released by Morpace, which is a market research firm and it stated that most of the consumers who showed interest in buying iPhone compatible on Verizon network were the existing consumers of Verizon only.

South California Celebrates Perseid Meteor Shower

Mt. Pinos in Los Padres National Forest witnessed, on Thursday night, 2010’s Perseid meteor shower, with more than 200 of Southern California’s residents tracing the shooting stars all over the sky. The peak of this annual meteor shower was witnessed on Thursday night and extended till the dawn of the next day.

Rebecca Johnson, an Editor in StarDate magazine, and the McDonald Observatory of the University of Texas, published a report saying that lucky viewers got the chance to see fireballs on that night. Although they are rare, they are still easy to detect among other bright meteors.

Google Denies Flouting Network Neutrality Principles

Google denied that it flouted network neutrality principles and proclaimed that it did not sell out its broadband policy proposal with telecommunications giant Verizon.

Attackers from all corners of the Web shared that Google was not sticking to firm principles for an open Internet, and the search engine giant is trying to defend itself from the same. A plan would be unveiled by Google and Verizon on August 9 that would forbid wireline operators from distinguishing between any applications, content and other traffic on the open Internet.

Supply Manager at Apple Arrested for Receiving Bribe worth $1 million

Massachusetts Shoppers To Enjoy Tax Break This Weekend

The temporary suspension of the state sales tax scheduled for this weekend is hoped to extend a bit of succor to the pockets of shopping hunters.

The tax relief witnessed an approval from Gov. Deval Patrick earlier this month as part of an effort under the economic development bill.

Under the tax relief to be run on Saturday and Sunday, shoppers would not have to shell out for state ruled 6.25% sales tax on items worth $2,500 or less, including electronic goods and back to school merchandise.

Judge Annuls Use of Genetically Modified Beets

The government's recent approval granted for biologically modified sugar beets is reported to have been annulled by a federal judge. The judge has claimed that approval should not have been granted until regulators have concluded its review whether the scientifically developed crops pose an impact on other food or not.

Following the revocation by the U.S. District Judge, Jeffrey S. White on Friday, sugar beet growers won’t be in a position to make use of the modified seeds, all of which come from Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Response Plan Awaited From BP After Oil Spill
