Health Insurance Companies to offer coverage to young adult children

In the announcement made by the federal employee health insurance program, it is unlikely this year to offer young adults the ability to remain on their parents’ policies until the age of 26. In simpler terms, it means that it will not follow the lead of some private insurance companies which will begin to offer such coverage to young adults by June 1.

CT heart scans may be a higher cancer risk say Study

A new study suggests that doctors who use CT scans to detect calcium buildup in arteries may be able to better predict heart disease risk in some of their patients. The study involved 5,878 patients between 45 and 84 enrolled in the Multi Ethnic Study of Arthrosclerosis and was evaluated using CT scans to look for calcium in the walls of their coronary arteries.

Health Buzz: Has Chocolate got to do anything with Depression?

According to a new study, of nearly 1,000 adults studied, those who ate an average of 8.4 percent servings of chocolate per month were diagnosed with depression while 5.4 percent servings consumed by participants were not depressed, say researchers. According to a study published last year in The Lancet , its no secret that type 1 diabetes is on the rise in children and if the current trend continues , new case in kids younger than 5 double by 2020.
